Shaping Your Run

An early start to the weekend at Lembah Kiara Park prepared 22 of our faithful readers for a very active Saturday. With clear blue skies as the perfect backdrop, the female and Shape Running Clinic kicked off with Raj Subramaniam, Master Trainer from FitnessRUs and his assistant Ivy Wong ready to help participants improve their running skills and avoid related injuries.

They guided participants through proper breathing techniques: “With time, you’ll be able to prolong the duration between inhaling and exhaling, which helps to burn more calories when you’re running,” revealed Raj.

Some of these tips were eye-openers to the ladies. One participant said that she didn’t realise that there were a few types of breathing techniques. “This is definitely something new to me as I am an amateur runner and this is my second year participating in the Shape Night Run,” she said.

Having run through the theory portion of the techniques, our participants practiced what they had learned. One participant said, “This running clinic was timely, being held before the Shape Night Run; and after this workshop, I believe I can achieve a better timing this year at the Night Run.”

And as always, no female & Shape workshop is complete without our signature goodie bag. This time, each participant walked away with a pair of Skechers GOrunTM shoes and a Skechers t-shirt worth a total RM408. Happily, they went home with Yogood muesli bars and plenty of tips for the upcoming Shape Night Run 2012 presented by GNC Live Well!
